Sometimes good books are hard to find. For that reason, below are a list of books that aren’t on The List but that are still very awesome and worth reading.

  • The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A. McKillip
  • The Gentlemen Bastards Series by Scott Lynch
  • The Ender’s Game Series by Orson Scott Card
  • Paris 1919 by Margaret MacMillan
  • Fall On Your Knees by Anne Marie MacDonald
  • Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather O’Neill
  • The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas
  • Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner
  • Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel
  • Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
  • The Hunter’s Moon by O.R. Melling
  • Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
  • I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
  • Ready Player One by Ernert Cline
  • The Lake of Dead Languages by Carol Goodman
  • The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King

I often diverge from The List in order to read these outliers (some are more deserving of the divergence than others). And since you are likely bound to no such strict reading list, you should read them too!

In addition, also, moreover, here are a few other lists which I’ve come across that have some pretty solid book recommendations. I’ll continue to update this page as I find new and exciting lists to share:
